Instructions
-
Prepare your workspace:
- Find a clean, well-lit area to work on your paint by numbers project.
- Lay down a protective covering to prevent any accidental spills on your work surface.
- Organise your paint by numbers kit, including the canvas, paints, brushes. We recommend setting up a cup of water (for in between colours) and some paper towel (to dry off the brush after cleaning!)
-
Start with the lightest colours:
- As a general rule, it is recommended to begin painting with the lightest colours first.
- Light colours are easier to cover if you accidentally paint over them with darker colours later.
- Identify the numbered section on the canvas that corresponds to the lightest colour in your paint set.
-
Refer to the number reference sheet:
- Before you start painting, take a clear photo of the number reference sheet provided with your kit.
- This reference sheet will serve as a guide if you need to identify any numbers that might be difficult to read on the canvas.
- Keep the photo easily accessible, either on your phone or printed out, for quick reference throughout your painting process.
-
Dip your brush and paint by numbers:
- Dip your brush into the paint, making sure to coat the bristles evenly but not overly saturated.
- Begin painting within the numbered section on the canvas that corresponds to the colour you have prepared.
-
Follow the numbered instructions:
- Paint each section with the corresponding colour, don’t worry too much about staying within the lines, are kits are designed to have a bit more creative freedom.
- If a section is too small or intricate, use a smaller brush for better control.
- Clean your brush thoroughly when switching colours to prevent unwanted mixing.
-
Layering and drying:
- Some sections may require multiple layers of paint for a smoother and more vibrant finish.
- Allow each layer to dry completely before applying the next one to prevent colours from blending unintentionally.
-
Work in sections and enjoy the process:
- Instead of painting the entire canvas in one go, work on smaller sections at a time.
- This approach helps you focus on the details and prevents smudging or accidental mixing of wet paint.
- Take breaks when needed and enjoy the relaxing process of bringing your artwork to life.
We recommend listening to an audio book or podcast while painting for a total switch off 🥰.
Also dont be too hard on yourself! You don't have to paint it perfectly, just have fun with it (I honestly never ever stay in the lines, and no one notices hehe).
